”The road to flat tummy is not easy” – Abraham Lincoln (I swear he said this. Dont @ me)
Its week one of my RTF and I’m already weak.
I’ve been eating junk food nonstop for like 5/6 months so you can imagine why stopping might be difficult.
My family now decided to have parties back to back. So when my mates were stuffing their faces with rice, cake and small chops I just had to pretend like I didn’t see all that food.
One of the most annoying things about this week was how everyone (especially my mum) kept reminding me that I was on a ‘road to fitness’ at every point.
I couldn’t even say I wanted small chops without criticism. Issokay. It kept me accountable though. So it wasn’t all bad.
I promised myself I would be as open about my fitness struggles as possible so I’m not gonna lie. I did mess up and eat things that I wasn’t supposed to eat at times. And that’s okay. I’m only human and we’re bound to err.
I kept on pressing forward in my fitfam-ness though and I started to get to a point where I was more aware of what I was putting in my mouth. And that helped me reduce my junk and snacking habits drastically.
The clean eating part was the hardest. How do you lot resist chocolate 😭?
Here are some of my fave meals of the week.
The chicken salad from Lincs Cafe is handsdown the best salad I’ve ever had. Worth every penny!
Slowly but surely I’ve been swapping my unhealthy food habits for healthier ones. This week I focused mostly on eating more leafy vegetables and fruits than any other thing.
I also tried to cook as healthy as possible by reducing how much oil I use to cook and boiling instead of frying.
I tried soya milk for the first time and I didn’t really like it. For something that’s supposed to be healthier than usual milk it tastes soo sweet.
Exercising at first was difficult because I was staying in a hotel for my cousin’s wedding and I had little to no time for myself but when we finally got home operation fitfam was back on.
A friend of mine once told me that habits can me be broken in 21 days. So as long as I can do 2 more weeks of this I should be good for the rest of the year.
Week 1 was a challenge. Can’t wait for the next 31. At the end of the year I hope to be a better me. Stronger, fitter and happier.
sidenote: I weighed myself at the end of the week and realized I lost 1kg! I know it’s not a lot, but its progress.
How are you guys planning on bettering yourselves this year? Let’s discuss!
